When The Wicked Rule, The People Groan

Are we groaning or what?

I don’t want to go on a rant about the awfulness of Obama.  But I can’t help but think of the scripture in Proverbs that gives us insight into the impact that rulers have upon their people.  In its entirety it states: ” When the righteous rule, the people rejoice; but when the wicked rule, the people groan.”  Proverbs 29:2

There are plenty of examples in scripture of the Lord allowing wicked rulers to preside over Israel as a direct result of the people’s wickedness — or, in other words — when every man did what was right in his own eyes as opposed to listening to God and obeying His commandments for righteous living.  What else might explain how a nation such as ours could purposely elect such an incompetent, ungodly man who seems to openly mock everything we hold dear day in and day out?  How could we allow this to happen?

Maybe this is our last wake-up call — a warning and reminder that as much as God loves America, he is no respecter of persons or nations and will not continue to bless us if we don’t make sincere changes in direction which would include turning back to Him.  Our pride and boastfulness has caused us to forget where our blessings come from and what happens to nations who turn against God and mock his commandments.  God is not mocked — whatever a man sows, that shall he also reap.

Along with my prayers, I am still trying to do my part by studying how we could have strayed so far from our roots — Constitutionally and spiritually — as I believe that retrieving these truths is the  key to our recovery.  I am appalled at the ignorance of so many who are completely oblivious to the role the Bible played in our founding.  And it is equally disconcerting to see so many resist looking to scripture for answers to our problems — as if the scriptures are no longer relevant to our survival and success.  This, my friends, is a symptom of our pride.

I won’t say more for now as I want to end on a positive note and wish everyone a nice weekend.  Stay tuned for more diaries as I become more adept at explaining how America’s greatness was birthed by men and women who deferred to Providence and humbly acknowledged our Creator as the ultimate lawgiver and life-sustainer when forming our nation’s governments.  A better understanding of how they looked to God for answers is quite refreshing.  After all, He really is a good God.

I’m an Intolerant Discriminator…and Proud of It

Political correctness run amok.  Indoctrination extraordinaire.  Lies masquerading as truth.

Every now and then, even the best among us get sucked into the manipulative language being used to pressure and coerce people to change their views on any number of issues.  And, if we are not careful, we can find ourselves with our guard down, fail to recognize when the lies are working and wind up slugging it out with the deviant among us who have prearranged the outcome through pure skullduggery ala trying to shame and guilt trip us into surrender.

I became aware of this pressure yesterday while reading center77′s piece that criticized Romney incessantly for being intolerant because he allowed circumstances to create the situation that caused one of Romney’s homosexual spokesmen to resign.  (My take — not center77′s).  As center77 defended his position (to the overwhelming push back from most commenters who disagreed with his analysis), he must have used the word “intolerant” at least fifty times — with the same righteous indignation one would use when talking of a pedophile, racist or elder abuser.

Then suddenly, I slapped myself out of the brainwashing mode and struck back by announcing that, “Intolerance is good…”  Yes.  It felt so good to say it out loud.  I’m intolerant and proud.

Many things should not be tolerated –  for good reason — and I refuse to buy into this hijacking of a word to demonize common sense and wisdom.

Then today, I read JSobieski announcing that we need to take back the word “discrimination.”  And I thought, yeah, that’s right.  That’s another word that has been recklessly used to beat us down into obedient serfs who are no longer able to think for ourselves much less discriminate between right and wrong, good and bad or moral and immoral.

And that, of course, is more nonsense meant to stun us into silence by the opposing forces who are poised to accuse us of — God forbid — discrimination when we use our brains to determine the wisest position to take or decision to make in any given circumstance.

Feels good to rebel against the indoctrination.  Say it again…”I’m an intolerant discriminator” — and proud of it.

I Know I Live In the People’s Republic of California…

but, please, would some of you RS readers tell me if this is going on all over the country?

I just took a short trip across town and could not believe the commercial I heard on one of the Los Angeles based radio stations.  It was an advertisement for food stamps encouraging people to see if they qualify for “Cal-Fresh Food Stamps.”

There was soothing music playing in the back ground and they reassured people that they could be working and still qualify!  I was so shocked and disgusted that I didn’t hear all of the details but I did hear them saying you would be able to get all the fresh vegetables you wanted and the food stamp money would simply be put on a debit card and you could spend away!

As dark blue as California is we have never sank this low.  I guess this is what we get with “food stamp Obama” in the White House.  Taxpayers are paying for commercials to push food stamps on the people hoping to get them addicted.  Without shame.

This must be Obama and the new left’s version of spreading the wealth around.  Are any other states seeing this kind of advertising?  Please fill me in.  Then I’ll know if this is just my state or a nation-wide phenomenon.

Why should we care about justice for Zimmerman?….after all, he’s a Dem!

What is wrong with us?  Why can’t conservatives jump on the band-wagon, follow in the footsteps of the unprincipled, hypocritical leftists and abandon Zimmerman’s cause in the name of loyalty to our party?  I mean, why should we care if he goes down in flames while being pummeled by the hatred spewing out at him from the likes of the most devout crusaders inside his own party?  What’s up with all that?

For weeks now, numerous diaries and commentaries have been published here at RedState dissecting every angle of this story.  While we know little beyond what occurred the night Zimmerman shot Martin, it has been reported that Zimmerman is a Democrat.  A Democrat!  And yet still, the overwhelming commentary here has been in defense of Zimmerman.  Most of us smell the stench of the case being used for political purposes and feel compassion for Zimmerman as he is scapegoated and lynched by the evil hatred that fuels the underbelly of the progressive movement in America.  And for that, we should feel proud.

This is what makes conservatives great.  It is what will make us triumph against the evil we are fighting.  We truly do believe in the principles we fight for and live by — principles that are timeless, colorblind and enable us to achieve excellence in everything we do.  If we were like the evil we are fighting, we would have ignored Zimmerman’s plight the moment we learned he was a Dem.  We would have gloated while we watched a man in the enemies’ camp suffer injustice and go down in flames.

But, no.  We can’t do that.  We cry out for justice for our enemy.  We see the horrors of the evil being done and we want justice to prevail and the truth to be told.  And we abhor the self-serving lies, hate-mongering bullhorns and race-baiting rabble rousers who lick their chops and drool at the chance to make headlines and a few bucks while they destroy the lives of whomever they decide to go after.

There is much debate and discussion right now about exactly how to define a conservative.  A case study on the Zimmerman story — and how conservatives came to his defense — should be considered when we define ourselves and try to explain what makes us tick.

And maybe, just maybe — when the Zimmerman case is over — we will have succeeded in rescuing many out of the enemies’ camp and seeing them run into our camp when they abandon the deceptive tactics of the leftists once and for all.

Attention Tea Partyers & Assorted Conservative Political Activists…

I would like to bring to your attention an exciting free on-line course being offered by Hillsdale College.   The course title is “Constitution 101:  The Meaning & History of The Constitution” and, according to the announcement, is part of a major national campaign to educate millions of citizens, including our elected officials, about the Constitution.

Hillsdale College is providing this course to anyone interested partly in response to the grassroots interest in returning our country back to its foundational principles.  These cherished principles are articulated in the Declaration of Independence,  the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights.  But sadly, many of us have neglected studying these documents and as a result, we are weak advocates of the principles of conservatism and allow liberal leftists to steal our liberties one by one.

Please consider taking this free on-line course to hone your political skills.  The Constitution cannot enforce itself and we all have a civic duty to protect and defend it for ourselves as well as our posterity.

You can find out more about this class by going to HillsdaleCollege.com.

westcoastpatriette’s disappearance from RedState…and a rebuttal to Martin Knight’s Perry post-mortem

Has it been three weeks?  Is that how long ago Perry withdrew from the race?  You’ll have to forgive me as I have lost track of time while mourning the loss of the first politician I have ever wept for.  Not to mention the temporary (although, initially, I didn’t know if I would ever post here again) loss of my RedState comrades.

As some of you know from the second diary I wrote here, I am one of the Tea Party-type newbies to the political scene and started reading and commenting at RedState last June.  If what our country is going through were not so serious and wrought with peril at every turn, I would be able to look at my experience here as just a hobby of sorts and perhaps I would not have been so profoundly affected by Perry’s (premature, IMO) withdrawal from the race.  But, instead, in all of my humble naivete, I was completely caught off guard when Perry dropped out.   And just one day after I had decided I would no longer stay involved at RS because Erick joined in with the other pros who insisted that if Perry had any future left, he should do the right thing, be a hero and drop out of the race.

So stunned, angry, disappointed and despondent was I that I ran back to my familiar surroundings — something closer to a pew or an altar where I could safely weep before the Lord.  Prior to my jump into the nuts and bolts of politics, I was deeply involved (we’re talking twenty-two years) inside the church which entailed, among other things,  much study of scripture and many years of allowing the Lord to do a deep work in my life as He, of necessity, must do with all of His children.

My devotion and love for Him eventually led me to discover that He delights in seeing his broken, weak followers give their all to Him and for me that meant my musical talent.  So, I was equally delighted when He allowed me to honor Him as a singer/songwriter and dancer/choreographer by writing songs to Him and dancing dances that might somehow convey my adoration for the best friend I ever met.

So, that is where I have been the last few weeks.  Safely hidden inside the love of my Savior allowing the music and dance to enable me to grieve, regain my composure and get back in the battle.  Not saying I am done yet but I just had to stop by, say hello, let you know I am okay and that I will be back some time soon.  I miss you all terribly and am equally stunned at the depth of affection I have for so many friends I feel like I made here.

I forgive you, Martin Knight, for your somewhat harsh post-mortem of Perry.  Remember the five stages of grief?  Denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance?  Maybe your diary reflected a man in the second stage — anger — and for you, lashing out at the missteps Perry made is your way of dancing and singing before the Lord.

This Diary Is For RedState Christians Only–Unless, Of Course, You Have Something Valuable To Contribute Anyway

This diary is not meant to be snarky.  I am struggling with my own conscience and would like to hear from other like-minded RSers to see how they are dealing with this issue.

For the sake of context, a little more self-disclosure is in order.  I’m a fairly new poster to RS but more than that, I am one of the new Tea Party-type political activists.  In other words, I don’t know what the heck I am doing and feel really naive compared to the veteran activists who are regular contributors here.

Shortly after Obama was elected, I felt compelled to get involved to try to save our country from self-destruction.  I stumbled into the political process last year and for the first time ever, volunteered to help Meg Whitman get elected here in California.  (That was really disappointing as I watched her waffle into a RINO as soon as she won the primary.)  I am also involved in a new local Tea Party and plan on diving into the Republican Party ala Cold Warrior style soon.

So, let’s just cut to the chase.  What is my problem?  I am wondering how other Christians who have more than a superficial commitment to the Lord deal with all of the sleaziness and dirty word wars.  It seems extra apparent right now that we really have some fine Republican candidates running for president in the primary, but by the time we get done “vetting them” they seem to be no better than the most low-down low-life one could imagine.

This is vexing my conscience as I am gleefully joining in the process.  For those who aren’t Christians or who don’t know what the scriptures have to say about this, let me just say that it is highly frowned upon.  Since we have been graciously and freely forgiven of our shortcomings, we are admonished to overlook others faults, be kind and tender-hearted toward others and keep a guard over our tongue in terms of hastily accusing others or defaming their character.

Am I the only one feeling guilty about this?  Does anyone have suggestions for how we could improve things along these lines?  Given the nature of the game, it seems we almost have to join in the process as nothing is hidden from view these days but so much of what we are doing seems destructive and counter productive so I just thought I would put this diary out here and see if anyone has anything to say about the mess.

E-Verify Bill Passes Out of Judiciary Committee

In a 22-13 party line vote, the House Judiciary Committee Wednesday passed legislation by Chairman Lamar Smith (R-TX) that would require all employers to use the E-Verify employment verification program.  The legislation, entitled “Legal Workforce Act” (H.R. 2885) includes limiting the number of documents employers may accept to verify employee eligibility and increases the penalties for employers who knowingly hire illegal aliens or fail to use E-Verify.

In May of this year, the U.S. Supreme Court upheld a similar bill passed by Arizona giving states the green light to pass mandatory E-Verify legislation.  As a result of that decision, the business community, including the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, is now pushing for a federal mandatory E-Verify bill to make the system uniform across the nation.

Given the super-hot nature of the politics surrounding illegal immigration right now, thought you all may be interested in this new development.
